This Is Another Post About Sleigh Bells.

How awkward do you feel listening to this yuppie interview Sleigh Bells?  He actually says “guy from hardcore band meets up with girl from girl-band and, you know, zaniness ensues.”

This Post Is About Shooting Heroin.

New York City spent $32,000 printing flyers on how to successfully shoot heroin. Take care of those veins kids.

This Post Is About Nike, Unfortunately.

First post in a while. I feel like I’m letting you down. I feel like I’m not being the mentor that I should be. I feel like the mainstream is taking over. Phoenix was in a Cadillac commercial, Cold Cave showed up in a Radio Shack ad, and so on. Now Nike is giving away a limited number of free Best Coast downloads. When I think of sweatshop-made running shoes I rarely associate them with is Fuzzed-Out California Surf Rock. Apparently someone does though.

This Post Is About Jack White.

Jack White needs to stop.

This Post Is About Sleigh Bells.

Brooklyn based duo, Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss go by the name Sleigh Bells. Miller, ex-guitarist of Poison the Well, and Krauss, a 5th grade school teacher and ex-member of teenpop group Rubyblue, blend their pasts into one coherent sound. Their music constantly bounces between the heavy chords and beats of Miller’s background and the pop hooks of Krauss’. Although it is worthwhile to compare Sleigh Bells to The Kills, I doubt that Alexis Krauss will fuck up and join a Jack White super-group like Alison Mosshart. At least let’s hope not.

This Post Is About Fall Be Kind.

Some alt from Pitchfork reviewed Animal Collective’s new EP, Fall Be Kind on ABC’s “New Music Monday.” When Charles Gibson says “indie” I feel really uncomfortable.

Watch the interview here. [ABC is run by assholes that don't let you embed their videos.]

This Post Is About Commercials.

I feel depressed whenever a good band is used to sell anything that isn’t an Apple product. Does it mean that indie music is becoming mainstream? Does it  mean that some of your alt friends actually graduated from design school and are making television ads? Either way, I’m a little sad.

This Post Is About The Depreciation Guild.

Download this song. The Depreciation Guild shares two members with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and does it well. “Dream About Me” shows a different direction for the band compared to the sound of their first full-length, “In Her Gentle Jaws.” If you don’t enjoy it, you’re a bad person.

This Post Is About Little Girls.

I’m forgetting how to offend people. I think I’m becoming an adult. I might start watching Dancing With The Stars and buying “practical shoes.”

Here’s some music that makes me feel young again. It’s hard to tell people I like this band because it usually comes out as “I like Little Girls.”

This Post Is About Wild Things.

Did you hear that they are making a book based on the movie “Where The Wild Things Are?”
